Originally from New Jersey, Peter moved to Texas at 15 and graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1992. After completing a degree in psychology at Washington and Lee University in 1996, Peter headed south of the border for a year as a short-term missionary in Acapulco. Upon his return from Mexico in 1998, Peter spent some time working and going to school back in Texas before heading to Missouri and Covenant Seminary in the fall of 1999. Peter finished his seminary studies and received his Master of Divinity degree in December of 2003, and was ordained as a minister of the gospel in the North Texas Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America in November of 2004. Peter currently lives just to the north of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he is working to start the first international chapter of Reformed University Fellowship through the new MTW/RUF agreement.
Ruth Martinez
A native of Mexico City, Ruth spent her childhood in the Federal District before moving to the United States to obtain a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. After finishing her degree, Ruth returned to Mexico where she obtained a master’s degree in the same area from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a master’s degree in Christian philosophy from Juan Calvino Seminary. In 1999, Ruth headed to St. Louis, where she began work on a Master of Arts in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary. In 2004, Ruth finished her degree and moved back to Mexico, and in early 2006 moved to Mexico City to assist Peter in establishing the RUF work at the UNAM.
