Providence and Catastrophic Data Loss

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 29th, 2007

I’m in Roswell, Georgia right now hanging out with my brother and sister-in-law and nephew and some of their old friends from back in the college days. You’ll recall that the B and SIL and N live in NYC now, so it was a very pleasant surprise to see that our trips to Atlanta coincided […]

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 21st, 2007

Tomorrow I’ll join the summer travel hordes as I head to Atlanta for staff training. Today I’m trying to clean up and pack, to order things that are cheaper in the US, and to tie up all of the loose ends that I’ll leave here. Please pray for a good week of training and visiting […]

Not So Crazy About Harry Potter

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 21st, 2007

AP reports:
The leading exorcist of Mexico’s main archdiocese said the popular Harry Potter book and film series could allow the devil to enter children’s minds, and does “a lot of damage.”
The Rev. Pedro Mendoza, a Roman Catholic priest and exorcist coordinator of the Archdiocese of Mexico City, made the comments at the end of a […]

Back from Mini-Retreat

Thanks for praying for the mini-retreat in Tequisquiapan, where we had a productive time of learning and bonding and hopefully will be a great start for serving UNAM students next year!

Airport Woes

Everyone gets charged an 88 USD fee to land at Mexico City’s Benito Juarez airport, which seems to be going toward paying for the international terminal. Seems like this has to be paid for by now at that steep rate, and something desperately needs to be done about building new airports. One runway per 20 […]

The disappearing street

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 16th, 2007

One of this summer’s unofficially proposed activities has been going to see the sinkhole that opened up in the eastern part of the city recently and swallowed up a chunk of street, a gate, and one teenager who stayed to watch a little bit too long. I’ve never heard of this happening before and have […]

Hopefully by the time this post shows up (I’m using WordPress’s time stamp feature to set this post in the future), you will be able to go to my photo spot and see pictures from the summer! They should include photos from our English Club and CUR activities of all kinds, so enjoy!

Pray for Mini-Retreat in Tequis

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 14th, 2007

Today we leave for Tequis. Please pray for safety in driving the big van, my preaching tomorrow and teaching during the week, and that our little band would cohere and grow in vision for what the CUR might be next year as we labor to “reach students for Christ and equip them to serve”.

My First Phone Scam

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 14th, 2007

I got a call yesterday from someone claiming to be someone that I know. They said that they were getting back into town from the US and needed for me to help them out by receiving some stuff for them while they waited for a customs document at the airport. The two possibilities for people […]

Which one is not like the others?

Posted by Peter Dishman on July 14th, 2007

Three sites were declared UNESCO world heritage sites recently. Here’s an article describing them - can you identify which one isn’t quite like the others?
WELLINGTON: A Roman palace in Serbia, more than 6,000 ancient rock drawings in Azerbaijan and a modernist university campus in Mexico were added to the list of World Heritage sites on […]
