Posted by Peter Dishman on November 24th, 2004

As I have moved around through small groups and churches with my powerpoint presentation, I have always had to call on friends with video projector connections in order to be able to put them on the “big screen”. Many thanks to those friends!! Now, however, I will no longer have to hassle […]

Sacred Heart vs. The Cell Phone

Posted by Peter Dishman on November 21st, 2004

Ever been in the middle of a Sunday service when somebody’s cell phone went off? (I was in one today!). Apparently some Roman Catholic Churches in Monterrey have been having a lot of trouble with them, so they imported Israeli cell phone jammers! Excerpts from a recent article below…

Molina Vs. The Smog

Posted by Peter Dishman on November 19th, 2004

In response to a reader query on pollution and what is being done about it, I offer this article from the October 29 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education. There is a lot out on this topic, but this is the first thing that I had in hand, so we’ll start there.

More Kudos for the UNAM

Posted by Peter Dishman on November 15th, 2004

I’m discovering more and more that the UNAM has a better quality of education than I had previously thought - the university consistently comes out ahead in Mexico and does well in the world as well. And getting in is difficult; one friend says that for 60 spots in the art school, there were […]

Inside the Temple of the Moon

Posted by Peter Dishman on November 15th, 2004

For years people have climbed up to the top of the “city of the gods” located outside of Mexico City, marvelling at the construction of the “temple of the moon” and the “temple of the sun,” but perhaps never contemplating that some thing or some people might be buried within these monolithic structures. Over […]
